Meet Jane Sauter

Jane was born and raised in southern Minnesota, joining three brothers and completing their family of six. Her father was a home-builder and also worked for Hormel, Inc. She attended Lansing Elementary School and Blooming Prairie High School, graduating in 1981 from Austin Christian Academy. After taking a year off to travel coast to coast with a concert choir, she headed to Dallas, Texas to enroll in a two-year program at Christ for the Nations Bible Institute (CFNI), where she received an Associate’s degree in Theology. After graduating, Jane worked in the Missions Department at CFNI, where she met and later married, Steve Sauter.

Steve and Jane have been very involved in foreign missions, visiting countries on five continents throughout the time that they reared their nine children. Not to be left out, all nine of their children have done a variety of Christian missions work both on their own as well as with other family members. Seven of their nine children live and work in the greater Sandpoint area, while two of their daughters reside in other states. Though retired now, Steve has been an entrepreneur for most of his career, while Jane had the opportunity to teach her children at home for a large portion of their education, as well as volunteer at the various schools that they attended over the years. They now live on the side of a mountain near Cocolalla, where they enjoy their farm animals, gardening and plenty of wildlife from moose down to grouse and everything in between.

Jane is a lifelong Republican and has served in various aspects of Republican activities, beginning in Goodhue County, Minnesota in 1990. While in Idaho, she has been involved in State Conventions, served as a Chief Election Judge, a Poll Worker, and a Poll Watcher for several different elections. She was also a Precinct Committee person for Kelso Precinct from 2020-2022.

Jane’s faith in God compels her to run this race. She believes her skills, background and experience will be a benefit to the office of State Representative for District 1.
